Meet the Family

The Winterburn family at Yorkshire Fine Arts is dedicated to preserving the personal touch and artisan approach associated with traditional fine art bronze casting, which sees every member of the family having active and extensive roles in the foundry.

Joy

As co-founder of Yorkshire Fine Arts, Steve’s wife Joy is the backbone of the company. A fully qualified lost wax pattern caster and mould maker, Joy also manages CPC transport for delivery and coordination of artwork whilst also maintaining the labourer and visitor Health & Safety CSCS for site work. As Director and devoted mother, Joy is pivotal to the everyday running of the company.

Ben

As a skilled and experienced fine art foundryman, Steve’s son Ben undertakes engineering responsibilities for Yorkshire Fine Art, contributing to the high level of craftsmanship visible in every bronze, as well as offering creative input to the artists’ concepts.

Ben is also responsible for running PR, creating, and sharing content about the artists’ work and activities online, ensuring a strong connection with Steve’s audience.

As 3D technician, Ben is responsible for fabrication and all in-house 3D equipment.

Roxy

The versatile artist and chemist has a rich personal history with art, science and animal conservation. Blending all three passions together has allowed Steve’s daughter Roxy to forge a unique identity as an expressive, stylised sculptor with a keen eye for detail and talent for producing high-quality bronze works. Notably, a background in chemistry with forensic science and toxicology has greatly influenced her patination techniques; Roxy uses different chemicals to produce some exceptional finishes. She now uses her own custom chemical mixtures to create patinas, individualising her as an artist.

“Bronze is always living and changing, people touching the sculptures helps them evolve in colour. That’s what it’s about, connecting with the people that enjoy it and touch it.”
