A jovial nod to his difficulty remembering artists' names, the Whatshisname alias reflects the humour of his art, which is originally created at his studio in Tooting, London.
His creative journey began as a seven-year-old in eastern Poland, where he began to create imagery using an ATARI® 130XE™ computer. Because of his dyslexia, visual imagery was his way of understanding the world, with television programmes and films having a huge impact on his creative style. He says: “I would watch TV for hours, absorbing it all. The colours seemed so bright.”
“
My art is shown at all kinds of art fairs around the globe, from Hong Kong to Singapore, Los Angeles, New York and of course London. So I’m sure you’ll find it somewhere!
”
Previous projects have included a massive 3D-printed zoetrope (an early form of animation technology, whereby the illusion of motion is created via sequential images inside a spinning cylinder with vertical slits) for the Singapore Science Centre. For his original artworks, Whatshisname uses 3D-printing along with traditional sculpture-making techniques.
He says: “Luckily, I live in London, where there is constantly something going on – whether it’s art, a performance or live shows. So it’s very easy to find inspiration.”
